A nationwide survey of Germans (1756 men and 2254 women) has found that the micronutrient intake of physically active people was more preferable to that of sedentary individuals, particularly in the intake of vitamin E, calcium, magnesium, folate and vitamin C. Active persons consumed higher amounts of fruit/vegetable juice, drinking water, milk products (including cheese) fruits, vegetables and vegetable fat. They also had a significantly higher contribution of dietary supplements to their nutrient intake, on average equally 3% of their daily nutrients. Even with the best of diets, it's still possible to have some marginal deficiencies due to depleted soils, the overuse of chemical fertilizers and poor farming, processing, storage and transportation practices. Add that to the fact that most of us don't even eat a well-balanced diet every day, and you can see how important it is for everyone, and especially athletes, to use a high quality multiple vitamin/mineral supplement. The MD+ Foundation Supplements, including MVM, Antiox and EFA+, are designed to provide the full range of minerals and vitamins required by athletes and dieters, and help deal with any marginal deficiencies particluiarly in the trace elements.
